Cross Library Media Specialist Helps with History Day

Three Wilbur Cross History Teachers challenged their students to choose a topic on Debate and Diplomacy to enter this competition in one of the categories. The teachers, Al Meadows, Eden Stein and Orah Bilmes brought their students to the library to learn the research process from Sharman Tait, Library Media Specialist.
The Connecticut History Day New Haven District competition took place at Wilbur Cross High School on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Wilbur Cross High School was represented by eleven students who had entries in six categories: Senior Group Documentary. Senior Group Exhibit, Senior Individual Exhibit, Senior Papers, individual Website and Performance.  Ten of these Cross students advanced to the Connecticut State History Day competition in Hartford held on Saturday, April 30. In the categories of Group Documentary, Individual Website, and Individual Paper, six Wilbur Cross High School students won in their categories and will take their History Day projects to the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland on June 13, 2011.
