Bishop Woods Spends Award Money at Barnes and Noble

A group of third grade researchers at Bishop Woods has won the first leg of the ThanksUSA treasure hunt. The prize was a thousand dollar gift card to Barnes and Noble.  The students spent a morning at the North Haven store selecting titles for the library.

ThanksUSA offers two interconnected programs: The national treasure hunt and the military family scholarship program. The treasure hunt raises awareness, excitement and funds for the scholarship program in an educational, family-friendly way.

This year's treasure hunt focuses on the fascinating histories of Oklahoma, West Virginia, and the U.S. Territories, along with the history of the United States National Guard,  folk heroes, national parks, and influential women. The hunt is made up of crosswords, word searches, anagrams, sudokus and more as players seek to find the key at the end of each chapter to unlock that chapter's treasure chest.
Because it was educators appreciation week the school received $1250 worth of books with the discount.
The folks at Barnes and Noble made it a wonderful experience for the students.

They gave each one a bag with his or her name on it and provided drinks and cookies to celebrate the accomplishment.
